Overview
DEFEND is seeking a Senior Cybersecurity Operations Analyst based in Wellington who is eager to lead cyber resilience by proactively managing risks and defending critical environments. This position entails handling vulnerability management, threat hunting, incident response, and collaborating with clients to anticipate adversaries' moves.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage vulnerability assessment processes comprehensively for infrastructure, endpoints, and applications.
- Assess and communicate risks effectively, from common threats to zero-day vulnerabilities.
- Engage in active threat hunting utilizing advanced query languages such as KQL and CQL.
- Investigate and respond to security incidents encompassing identity, endpoints, and network layers.
- Automate security procedures employing scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, Bash, and innovative AI methods.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate remediation efforts and minimize risks.
- Produce detailed reports and actionable insights to support informed decision-making.
- Contribute to initiatives improving cloud security posture and system hardening.
- Continuously enhance security playbooks, detection methods, and operational workflows.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience with vulnerability management tools such as Qualys and CrowdStrike.
- Strong understanding of frameworks for prioritizing cybersecurity risks.
- Hands-on expertise in threat hunting and operational security practices.
- Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, and contemporary cybersecurity technologies.
- Scripting proficiency in Python, PowerShell, or AI-driven automation.
- Effective communication skills to translate complex technical risks into clear business implications.
- An attitude of curiosity, ownership, and commitment to ongoing improvement.
