Senior Consultant - Infrastructure Architecture

About the Role

This senior consulting position entails leading the architecture design, review, and governance of hybrid and cloud solutions specifically on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role ensures all architectures comply with security, performance, and compliance requirements, guiding technical teams through deployments and enforcing governance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish architecture principles, reference models, and patterns for both cloud and on-premises environments.
• Validate and review solution designs produced by internal projects or vendors to confirm alignment with enterprise standards.
• Provide technical oversight during implementation and deployment to ensure quality and adherence to design.
• Assess scalability, security, and performance of proposed architectures before approving.
• Document architecture decisions clearly linked to business goals.
• Evaluate hybrid and multi-cloud solution designs, ensuring SaaS and PaaS integration follow best practices.
• Supervise infrastructure deployment, configuration, and governance compliance.
• Define standards for cost efficiency, monitoring, and operational resilience in cloud environments.
• Lead migration and repatriation efforts, validating strategies, timelines, and rollback procedures.
• Approve and govern Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems including Azure AD, Entra ID, and hybrid Active Directory, ensuring enforcement of least privilege, Conditional Access, and role-based policies.
• Oversee Office 365 services configuration and governance, securing Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams implementations.
• Validate cloud security architectures for virtual networks, firewalls, and connectivity mechanisms like ExpressRoute.
• Ensure implementation of robust backup, disaster recovery, and resilience plans.
• Review infrastructure and database designs on Azure services including VMs, App Services, SQL, and Cosmos DB.
• Guide optimization, monitoring, and incident response related to infrastructure deployments.
• Govern DevOps pipelines and automation frameworks, reviewing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep) for quality and compliance.
• Collaborate on project readiness, vendor management, RFP drafting, and proposal evaluations.
• Maintain architectural governance frameworks and ensure compliance with legal and internal standards.
• Support disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning through thorough documentation reviews.
• Facilitate communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders, mentoring teams and clarifying risks and impact.
• Evaluate emerging technologies via proofs of concept and pilot projects, refining standards and recommending innovations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related fields.
• Certifications preferred include Microsoft AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-700, AZ-500, SC-100; Google Professional Cloud Architect; DevOps Engineer Expert; Terraform Associate.
• A minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience in IT infrastructure and cloud architecture involving Azure, GCP, and on-prem environments.
• Proven expertise in cloud migration, hybrid integration, and workload repatriation.
• Strong governance, compliance, and architectural review background.
• Hands-on knowledge of IAM, Entra ID, Office 365, and hybrid identity management.
• Deep understanding of network, storage, compute, and database principles.
• Experience with DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, and automation tools.
• Effective vendor and stakeholder management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
• Arabic language skills are advantageous but not required.
