Qualcomm Technologies Ireland Limited in Cork is seeking a Senior Engineer specializing in Computer Science for CAD (Computer-Aided Design) tool development. The role is part of Qualcomm's global CAD team, which creates tools, workflows, and methodologies aimed at VLSI design challenges, focusing on advanced technology nodes of 3nm and below. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team blending hardware, software, and algorithms to address complex microelectronics problems using a data-centric approach.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develop and implement algorithmic solutions involving automated reasoning methods to address complex VLSI design problems.
• Apply artificial intelligence, constraint programming, SAT solving, integer programming, and metaheuristics to optimize CAD tools and design flows.
• Collaborate in software development using modern practices such as version control, continuous integration, continuous deployment, and thorough testing to ensure software quality.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of a bachelor's degree (preferably in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related areas); advanced degrees (master’s or PhD) are advantageous.
• Strong expertise in automated reasoning techniques from AI and operations research.
• Deep understanding of graph algorithms and related data structures.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing sophisticated, optimized constraint reasoning solutions.
• Proficiency in Python programming with knowledge of high-quality software development practices.
• Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams by interpreting electronic design requirements.
• Excellent communication skills suitable for a diverse audience.
• Additional desirable skills include experience with data science and visualization tools, C/C++ object-oriented programming, and familiarity with synthesis or physical design flows and CAD tool creation.
