Overview

This senior leadership role within Westpac New Zealand offers a unique opportunity for an experienced banking professional possessing strong commercial insight and proven ability to influence senior stakeholders. Leading a team of analytics specialists, you will collaborate across Everyday Banking, Business Products, and Payments divisions to convert complex insights into actionable strategies, support key strategic decisions, enhance portfolio performance, and manage complex stakeholder relationships effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior management across Everyday Banking, Business Products, and Payments to guide strategic decisions and optimize portfolio performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and nurture a high-achieving analytics team focusing on high-impact initiatives that drive business growth.
  • Analyze complex data and translate it into clear, practical insights and recommendations that influence business results.
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships while confidently navigating complex stakeholder environments and providing constructive challenges as necessary.
  • Pinpoint opportunities to enhance growth, customer experience, and commercial outcomes, ensuring risk considerations are balanced.
  • Coordinate alignment among various teams and priorities to maximize value for both customers and the business.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Extensive leadership experience within the banking sector, with a deep understanding of banking products, commercial factors, and portfolio management across multiple domains.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Sound commercial acumen with comprehensive knowledge of drivers affecting business and portfolio success.
  • Expertise in influencing senior executives and managing multifaceted stakeholder relations.
  • Ability to interpret complex information into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations supporting decision-making.
  • Strong familiarity with analytics, performance metrics, and related tools, coupled with the ability to ask pertinent questions and translate analytical outputs into business value.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the confidence to challenge viewpoints, influence decisions, and drive impactful outcomes.
  • Experience working cross-functionally in dynamic environments, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results amid competing demands.
