Senior Cyber Assurance Advisor

About the Role

As a Senior Cyber Assurance Advisor on the Cyber Service Group team, you will play a vital part in safeguarding Westpac New Zealand. The team's mission is to independently verify the effectiveness of cyber security controls across the organisation by providing trusted expertise, insightful data-driven assessments, and continuous improvement opportunities.

In your senior capacity, you will mentor colleagues, advise stakeholders, and assist the Service Owner in achieving team goals. Your efforts will help build a world-class cyber security environment by driving assurance activities, influencing key partners, and promoting a culture of security excellence.

What You Will Bring

• At least five years in technology roles with solid experience in cyber assurance, vulnerability management, and security remediation.
• Deep technical understanding of web security, networking, and enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Proven leadership in managing critical and zero-day vulnerability remediation in collaboration with vendors, service owners, and product teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of network architecture and enterprise architecture frameworks.
• Familiarity with internet security principles, communication protocols, and directory services standards.
• Experience working with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies.
• Awareness of regulatory compliance requirements relevant to financial services.
• Competence in industry security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and NIST.
• Proficiency with issue and workflow management tools including Atlassian Jira.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure, managing urgent security risks and conflicting priorities.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and translating technical matters for diverse audiences.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience creating and reporting on cyber security metrics, controls assurance, and compliance performance.
• Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across business and technology teams to achieve positive security outcomes.
