Senior Bid Manager - Pre-Construction

About the Role

We are working with a prestigious international engineering contractor known for delivering highly complex construction projects across Ireland and Europe. The organisation is expanding its presence in Europe and is seeking a seasoned Senior Bid Manager to join their Dublin pre-construction team. This senior role will be pivotal in nurturing major projects from initial enquiry, through tendering and contract award, and finally to handover for execution.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead all pre-construction and bidding activities starting from enquiry to final contract decisions.
• Collaborate closely with estimates teams throughout tender phases.
• Coordinate inputs from Design, Planning, Commercial, and Operations departments ensuring cohesive bids.
• Develop and scrutinise technical submissions including construction methods and logistical plans.
• Assess and document project risks and opportunities during bids.
• Engage continuously with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners during bid progression.
• Support budgeting efforts, value engineering, and procurement strategies.
• Ensure tender submissions are compliant with client expectations and internal quality benchmarks.
• Lead bid presentations and address any post-submission clarifications.
• Facilitate effective transition of successful bids into the delivery teams.
• Gather and apply stakeholder feedback to drive improvements.
• Provide constructive feedback to supply chain collaborators post tender.
• Manage multiple simultaneous bids in a dynamic pre-construction environment.

Experience and Skills Required

• A minimum of 8 to 12 years’ experience across pre-construction, project or commercial management within construction.
• Proven track record working on complex, large-scale projects.
• Previous direct involvement with Data Centre, Industrial, or Pharmaceutical projects is highly valued.
• Expertise managing tender processes, bid preparation and submissions.
• Strong commercial insight coupled with a practical understanding of construction methodologies.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional internal and external teams effectively.
• Experience operating in main contracting or specialist engineering contractor environments.
• Proven ability to juggle multiple tenders and meet challenging deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
• Comprehensive understanding of design development, cost estimating, planning, and project implementation.
• Exceptional client and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent communication abilities, both written and oral.
• Commercially savvy with a keen ability to identify potential risks and opportunities within bids.
• Experience working on Data Centre or Mission Critical projects is advantageous but not mandatory.
