Role Overview
This position involves collaborating closely with senior team members to provide accounting and advisory services to a varied portfolio of business clients. Responsibilities and autonomy will align with your professional experience.
Key Duties
- Preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and management accounts.
- Handling client relationships and addressing daily accounting and tax inquiries.
- Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analyses.
- Helping clients interpret their financial outcomes and spotting possible improvement areas.
- Ensuring assignments are completed within deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Cooperating with colleagues to solve technical accounting and taxation issues.
- Providing guidance and constructive feedback to junior team members.
At the Assistant Manager tier, responsibilities expand to include more substantial review duties, workflow coordination, client delivery oversight, and supporting team development.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an experienced BAS professional eager to engage directly with clients and take accountability for their work. This individual should demonstrate strong technical proficiency, clear communication skills, and a practical problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in BAS services within a New Zealand accounting practice.
- Comprehensive understanding of New Zealand accounting and tax regulations.
- Possession of a CA or CPA qualification, or nearing qualification completion.
- Proficiency in preparing financial statements and tax filings for business entities.
- Confidence in using Xero and various accounting software systems.
- Capability to juggle multiple deadlines while effectively communicating with clients.
- A desire to enhance advisory capabilities and leadership skills.
For candidates at the Assistant Manager level, demonstrated experience in reviewing work, mentoring junior accountants, and independently managing client relationships is expected.
