Role Overview

We are seeking a full-time Senior Backend Engineer to join our Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable (ARAP) product team. This team focuses on building an all-encompassing platform for sales and expense management tailored to small and medium-sized enterprises, addressing invoice handling, bookkeeping, and payment card functionalities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and evolution of the ARAP backend systems using primarily Python and Django.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, Product, and Design teams to translate business and customer needs into scalable and maintainable solutions.
• Occasionally contribute to frontend client enhancements when necessary to ensure cohesive product delivery.
• Adopt and effectively utilize AI-assisted development tools while maintaining high standards of engineering judgement, quality, and security awareness.
• Engage in refining requirements and iterative solution development with the broader team.
• Communicate clearly and transparently in English within a low-hierarchy, ownership-driven work culture.

Candidate Profile

• Possess robust experience as a senior software engineer with ownership of complex technical tasks.
• Demonstrate strong backend development skills, ideally with Python and Django, or with comparable frameworks and the capacity to quickly master Django.
• Exhibit a proactive attitude in advancing projects and working collaboratively across disciplines.
• Comfortable extending contributions beyond backend work, including frontend adjustments when beneficial.
• Ready to embrace AI-assisted development workflows effectively.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in leveraging AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, review, debugging, or design.
• Experience maintaining and improving large, long-standing codebases.
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services, Docker containers, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Knowledge of frontend web development and API integrations.
• Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling principles.
• Background in fintech or financial services domains, particularly in payments, invoicing, accounting, or bookkeeping systems.

Compensation and Benefits

• Monthly salary between €5300 and €6500, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Additional Information

• Full-time, permanent employment.
• Work location options include hybrid in Helsinki metropolitan area or Berlin, or fully remote from Spain, Finland, or various parts of Germany.
• Typical working hours observe core hours from 10:00 to 15:00 local time, with flexibility outside these periods.
• Hybrid model usually requires presence two or more days per week onsite, with remote arrangements possible for those outside primary hubs.
