Job description
About the Role
DoorDash is seeking a Senior Associate for Strategy & Operations to lead and optimize restaurant pricing and promotional frameworks specifically within the Australia-New Zealand (ANZ) market, emphasizing the New Zealand merchant segment. This position entails close collaboration across multiple teams including product, sales, finance, and operations to effectively implement strategies tailored to the New Zealand marketplace.
Restaurants form the cornerstone of our marketplace. Our goal is to elevate the merchant experience from initial onboarding through growth by refining operational precision, boosting efficiency, and enhancing adaptability as DoorDash expands its services. This is a hybrid role based in Auckland with an expectation of three days per week working onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the comprehensive design and assessment of pricing strategies and promotional campaigns that impact the restaurant marketplace business.
- Ensure high analytical standards by developing detailed unit economics models and controlled experiments to verify viability and maximize impact of commercial offers.
- Provide senior leadership with high-quality decision support materials and balanced trade-off frameworks, acting as a trusted strategic advisor for important market decisions.
- Tackle complex, ambiguous challenges with a hands-on approach, managing incomplete data and tight deadlines to successfully implement new initiatives in the New Zealand market.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Marketing, and Finance to confirm the operational feasibility and strategic coherence of promotions.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possess over three years of experience in management consulting or fast-paced commercial roles, with demonstrable success in iterative execution and process improvement.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to decompose complex issues, identify logical gaps, and utilize data to produce actionable insights.
- Experience in understanding marketplace dynamics, including building promotion and discount volume forecasts.
- Excellent communication skills with a preference for documented analyses, evidence-based persuasion, and the ability to clarify complicated trade-offs for executive stakeholders.
- Ability to operate autonomously with effective time management, punctuality, and influence without relying on hierarchical direction.
