Senior Architectural Technician

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Architectural Technician to join our Christchurch-based team. In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing projects from initial concept through to detailed design and construction phases. Your key focus will be producing precise, high-quality documentation and collaborating closely with clients, consultants, and our multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and coordination of architectural documentation encompassing all project stages from concept to construction.
• Develop BIM documentation, including drawings and specifications, primarily using Revit software.
• Collaborate and align architectural outputs with structural, civil, geotechnical, and other engineering disciplines.
• Engage with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Assist with project administration tasks, including contract management, site meetings, and inspections.
• Provide mentorship and technical assistance to junior staff members.
• Create and maintain architectural tools, templates, specifications, and workflows to support project delivery.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a relevant architectural qualification and substantial experience within New Zealand’s consultancy or construction sector.
• Expertise in Revit and BIM documentation processes.
• Strong dedication to design quality across all phases, from conceptual design through contract administration.
• Proven track record managing projects from concept initiation to construction completion.
• Deep understanding of New Zealand Building Code regulations and consent procedures.
• Ability to autonomously handle project documentation and deliverables.
• Excellent skills in coordination and communication across multidisciplinary teams.
• Pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to project execution.
• Competence in guiding and supporting junior colleagues.
• Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Lumion, and Illustrator is beneficial but not mandatory.
