Job description
About Wrike
Wrike is an advanced work management platform designed to unify teams and organizations, enabling seamless collaboration, creativity, and productivity enhancements by centralizing all tasks in one place. Our vision is to create a world where everyone can focus on their most meaningful work collectively.
Role Overview
We are establishing a new talent pathway for senior engineers who autonomously transform high-level concepts into production-grade features, integrating AI as a key productivity multiplier rather than a buzzword. This is a unique role with no prior incumbent, intended for individuals who thrive operating independently within a mature company environment serving real users with frequent deployments. Responsibilities include taking a product idea from inception through to backend logic, frontend components, testing (both manual and automated), infrastructure, and related tasks required for delivering a full feature. Candidates will evaluate and utilize the existing codebase judiciously, enhancing reusability while minimizing technical debt.
Role Responsibilities
- Convert ambiguous product visions into detailed technical plans through proactive stakeholder engagement rather than relying on complete specifications.
- Design, develop, and deploy full-stack features, encompassing Java/Spring backend development, REST API integration, database interactions, modern frontend technologies such as TypeScript, React 19, Microfrontends, Module Federation, and legacy Dart components.
- Analyze and work with a complex, dynamic codebase, making decisions about reuse versus redevelopment and actively reducing technical debt.
- Adopt systems thinking to anticipate potential downstream impacts before they evolve into problems.
- Make autonomous technical and product tradeoff decisions, manage associated risks, and drive projects through to completion.
- Leverage AI development tools daily, including Cursor, Claude/Codex, internal AI portals, and MCP, authoring custom automations and skills that significantly streamline workflows.
- Critically evaluate AI-generated suggestions and product requests, applying sound judgment to accept or challenge them.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive full-stack engineering experience with strong expertise in Java 21, Spring framework, RESTful APIs, SQL, as well as TypeScript and React 19.
- Proven ownership of features or systems from concept through deployment rather than solely executing predefined tasks.
- Experience in navigating and enhancing established, complex codebases (not greenfield projects).
- Advanced hands-on experience with AI coding tools integrated into daily development workflows.
- Ability to make independent decisions amid ambiguity and assume responsibility for outcomes.
- Successful backgrounds include technical founders, early startup engineers who built initial versions of systems, small company CTOs or engineering leads, or senior engineers active in open-source or side projects.
Technology Stack
- Java 21, Spring, REST APIs, and SQL databases
- TypeScript, React 19, Redux, Dart
- PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ
- Unit and integration testing frameworks for Java web stack
- AI development tools: Cursor, Claude/Codex, Zencoder, internal AI portal, internal MCP
