Senior AI Engineer

Role Overview

Takween AI is looking for an experienced Senior AI Engineer who will be responsible for architecting, developing, and deploying advanced AI solutions at the enterprise level. The focus will be on Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and Agentic AI technologies. This position requires a blend of deep AI expertise alongside solid software engineering capabilities, as well as experience in bringing AI projects from initial concept to production deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain production-quality applications utilizing Generative AI and LLM technologies.
• Develop and streamline RAG pipelines including document processing steps such as chunking, embeddings generation, retrieval, ranking, and response formulation.
• Design AI agents and complex agentic workflows that can perform reasoning, invoke tools, and interface with enterprise software systems.
• Build AI functionalities for enterprise use cases like search, question answering, summarization, document analysis, data extraction, and decision-making support.
• Integrate AI applications with APIs, backend databases, document management systems, and other enterprise infrastructure.
• Create reusable AI services and APIs to support diverse applications and practical use cases.
• Enhance system performance through prompt engineering, retrieval optimization, model selection, context handling, and considerations for latency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Establish and apply evaluation frameworks that measure accuracy, hallucination, retrieval effectiveness, task success rate, and overall performance.
• Implement robust controls and guardrails addressing challenges such as prompt injection attacks, data leakage, inappropriate tool use, and other AI security vulnerabilities.
• Oversee deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and iterative improvement of AI solutions in production environments.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in AI/ML engineering, software engineering, or related disciplines, with significant recent work on Generative AI.
• Advanced proficiency in Python programming.
• Extensive hands-on work with LLMs, RAG approaches, vector embeddings, semantic search, and prompt design.
• Proven experience developing AI agents, including tool and function invocations, and managing agentic workflows.
• Familiarity with AI development frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or equivalents.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks and transformer models, including PyTorch and Hugging Face Transformers, alongside open-source or commercial LLMs.
• Strong backend and API development skills with demonstrated ability to integrate AI solutions into enterprise systems.
• Expertise in AI evaluation methods, deployment of guardrails, managing AI system security, and continuous monitoring in production settings.
• Experience working with cloud-based AI platforms is expected.
• Additional advantage for those with knowledge in OCR, document intelligence, multimodal AI, and applications related to Arabic language AI technologies.
• Excellent software engineering practices, problem-solving abilities, clear communication, and experience leading technical teams.
