Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking two newly established Senior Advisor positions within the Driving and Commercial Transport regulatory sub-systems. These roles focus on enhancing regulatory performance and delivery within New Zealand's land transport sector by connecting planning, coordination, and performance insights to key priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of initiatives that ensure efficient regulatory system operations.
- Link priorities, operational risks, trade-offs, and performance data to enable informed decision-making.
- Analyze performance data to detect patterns, risks, issues, and potential areas for advancement.
- Offer clear, pragmatic, and evidence-supported advice to leaders and operational teams.
- Facilitate collaboration and information sharing across multiple teams for cohesive delivery.
- Track performance versus objectives and recommend preemptive actions when necessary.
- Enhance planning tools, frameworks, and processes for consistency and practicality.
- Support governance, committee matters, ministerial inquiries, Official Information Act compliance, and reporting activities.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate demonstrates curiosity, sound judgment, and robust advisory capabilities. Confident in navigating data, ambiguity, and collaborative environments, they translate complex information into actionable advice that supports practical and timely decisions.
- Proficient understanding of regulatory frameworks, governmental procedures, or complex operational settings.
- Experience in facilitating planning, prioritization, or coordination across multiple teams or projects.
- Strong analytical abilities to interpret data and recognize trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Background in performance monitoring, governance, reporting, or assurance functions.
- Skilled in delivering structured, clear, and evidence-based recommendations.
- Excellent relationship management and communication skills across diverse groups.
- Capability in preparing reports, dashboards, and briefing documents with clarity.
- Good judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive mindset in uncertain environments.
- Familiarity with project or program delivery methodologies is advantageous.
Experience within regulatory, government, or similarly complex operational environments is preferred. Additionally, knowledge or willingness to engage with Te Ao Māori principles, tikanga, Te Reo Māori, and the Treaty of Waitangi's application in public services is encouraged.
