Self Checkout Attendant

Overview

Key Duties

• Maintain a neat, safe, and orderly self-checkout area, keeping it free from clutter, foreign objects, and spills.
• Promote Walmart's programs such as credit card offerings, product protection, and charitable initiatives as applicable.
• Provide customers with helpful support at self-checkouts by offering guidance, supervising usage, and performing necessary checks. Communicate any interventions kindly and escalate cash or technical concerns to management.
• Respond promptly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts and log incidents accurately as per company guidelines.
• Manage and store Scan & Go scanners properly after customer use.
• Show flexibility by working various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on store needs.

Role Challenges

• Handle high workload in a fast-moving environment by managing overnight shifts effectively and planning to maintain energy and focus.
• Complete large volumes of restocking and organizing tasks with accuracy and within deadlines.
• Perform physical activities involving extended standing, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Carry out repetitive duties like stocking and zoning with close attention to detail to maintain store standards.

Compensation

The starting pay rate for this role is $18.40 per hour.
