Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

Join Walmart Canada as a Self Checkout Attendant and develop key skills in customer service and retail operations. In this role, you will enhance the shopping experience by assisting customers in the self-service checkout zone to ensure smooth and friendly transaction processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the self checkout area by removing debris, foreign objects, and spills, and organizing the space appropriately.
• Promote Walmart initiatives such as credit card programs, product protection plans, and charitable efforts when relevant.
• Assist customers with self checkout, providing help to facilitate fast and confident usage, including monitoring activity and performing required verifications. Explain interventions clearly and escalate cash or technical problems to the Customer Service Manager.
• Respond to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts according to procedure and complete the failure to deactivate documentation accurately.
• Ensure Scan & Go equipment is returned to designated storage after use.
• Be flexible to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands.

Challenges

• Manage high workload during fast-paced shifts, including overnight hours, by planning to maintain focus and energy.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, bending, lifting inventory or supplies up to 20 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Carry out repetitive tasks like stocking and zoning with attention to detail to uphold store presentation standards.

Compensation

The starting hourly wage for this role is $16.50.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
