Job description
Position Overview
Joining Walmart Canada as a Self Checkout Attendant provides a valuable chance to develop customer service and retail operational skills. This role involves enhancing the shopping experience through friendly and helpful assistance at the self-service checkout area.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the self checkout area by keeping it clean, safe, and organized, free from debris and hazards.
- Promote Walmart’s programs such as credit services, product protection, and charitable initiatives when suitable.
- Assist customers in using self checkout efficiently, monitor usage, perform required checks, and explain interventions kindly; escalate technical or cash issues to management.
- Respond promptly and properly to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts and accurately log any failures to deactivate items.
- Ensure Scan & Go devices are returned to their storage locations after use.
- Adapt to varying work shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet business demands.
Challenges in This Role
- Handling a high volume of tasks quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment, especially during overnight shifts.
- Maintaining physical stamina and focus throughout shifts, standing for long periods, and performing tasks involving lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Performing repetitive duties such as stocking and zoning with consistent attention to detail.

Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this position is $16.15 CAD.
