Position Overview

Joining Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant provides an excellent chance to enhance your customer service and retail operational skills. Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the self-checkout area by keeping it clean, safe, and well-organized, free from unnecessary items, debris, or spills.
• Actively promote Walmart’s programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charity campaigns when relevant.
• Assist customers using the self-checkout by offering guidance, monitoring activity, and resolving any issues promptly; communicate interventions courteously and escalate cash or technical problems to the Customer Service Manager.
• Respond appropriately to Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alarms following set protocols and document incidents accurately in the Failure to Deactivate log.
• Ensure Scan & Go devices are returned properly to their storage areas after use.
• Exhibit flexibility in work schedule by being available for a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to support the store's operational needs.

Challenges in the Role

• Manage high volumes of work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, including staying alert during overnight shifts and planning to maintain energy levels.
• Handle intensive tasks such as restocking and recovery activities with accuracy and timeliness.
• Perform physically demanding tasks like standing for extended periods, lifting inventory or supplies up to 50 pounds, and repetitive motions involved in stocking and organizing products.

Compensation

The starting wage for this position is $18.40 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
