Self Checkout Attendant

Position Overview

As a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada, you'll engage in delivering excellent customer service within a dynamic retail environment. The role involves facilitating customers’ use of the self-service checkout area to enhance their shopping experience through helpful and friendly assistance.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization in the self checkout zones by removing debris and avoiding clutter.
• Promote Walmart's credit card offerings, product protection options, and charitable programs to customers when relevant.
• Assist customers during self-checkout by guiding them through the process, monitoring usage, performing necessary verifications, and communicating clearly about any issues. Escalate cash or technical concerns to the Customer Service Manager.
• Address Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) alerts properly and keep detailed records in the “Failure to Deactivate” log.
• Ensure that Scan & Go devices are collected and stored in their proper locations after use.
• Adapt to working various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet store needs efficiently.

Challenges and Physical Expectations

• Manage high volume, fast-paced task demands particularly during overnight shifts by planning to maintain alertness and productivity.
• Complete physically demanding duties such as standing for long periods, bending, and lifting merchandise or equipment weighing up to 20 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Perform repetitive stocking, zoning, and organizing duties with high attention to detail to uphold store presentation standards.

Compensation

The role starts with a minimum hourly wage of $17.75 (CAD).

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must be at least 16 years old to qualify.
