Job description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Security Researcher to join a client organization on a full-time, remote contract basis. This role focuses on discovering and analyzing software vulnerabilities in crucial systems to enhance security defenses through technical research and mitigation strategies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive vulnerability research across software codebases, APIs, and system infrastructure.
- Create proof-of-concept exploits to validate potential vulnerabilities and gauge their risk impact.
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams to develop and deploy security patches and countermeasures.
- Stay informed on the latest security threats, attack techniques, and vulnerability trends.
- Produce detailed technical documentation and communicate findings and suggestions clearly to stakeholders.
Required Experience and Technical Skills
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, or Go, applied in vulnerability evaluation contexts.
- Proficient with reverse engineering software such as IDA Pro, Ghidra, or Binary Ninja.
- In-depth understanding of vulnerability types including buffer overflows, race conditions, and logic errors.
- Experience using fuzzing tools like AFL, LibFuzzer, or Honggfuzz.
- Good knowledge of operating system internals on Linux and Windows platforms and memory corruption exploitation methods.
- Ability to analyze network protocols to uncover potential security flaws.
- Familiarity with static and dynamic security assessment tools including Coverity, Fortify, and Valgrind.
- Excellent communication capabilities for technical report writing and presentations.
