Role Overview

This position is a full-time, on-site Security Officer based in Arba Minch. The Security Officer is responsible for safeguarding the health department's premises, including entrances, exits, and restricted zones, to protect employees, patients, visitors, and assets. Routine duties involve conducting patrols, identifying and reporting suspicious behaviors, enforcing security policies, and responding to emergencies as per protocols. Collaboration with departmental personnel and local enforcement agencies is essential, along with maintaining detailed incident logs. The officer supports secure operations during normal hours and special events, adhering to all legal and organizational standards while upholding professionalism and respectfulness.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Prior experience in security, safety, or related protective roles, especially within healthcare or public sectors, is preferred.
  • Capability to monitor areas, perform scheduled patrols calmly and effectively respond to emergency situations.
  • Strong skills in observation, situational awareness, accurate reporting, and record maintenance.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with staff, patients, visitors, and other stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of fundamental security operations, access control methods, safety regulations, and willingness to comply with organizational procedures.
  • Physical fitness to stand, walk, and patrol for long periods in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, dependability, professionalism, confidentiality, and non-discriminatory conduct.
  • Completion of secondary education required; additional certifications in security, safety training, or prior law enforcement/military background are advantageous.
