About the Role
Convergint seeks a dedicated and proactive full-time Security Solutions Estimator to become part of our dynamic and supportive culture based in Moncton, New Brunswick. This position serves as a key contributor between entry-level estimators and senior design and estimating experts, focusing on creating precise cost projections for substantial RFPs, greenfield projects, and intricate scopes, particularly concerning programmatic clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for large-scale proposals, greenfield initiatives, and complex scopes including various sectors like data centers, healthcare, financial institutions, utilities, and education.
- Serve as a bridge between junior estimators and seasoned professionals, managing medium to large opportunities with programmatic clients.
- Interpret project documentation, specifications, and requirements to fully grasp scope, potential risks, and deliverables.
- Work closely with teams across sales, engineering, procurement, and project management to ensure estimates incorporate accurate costings, resources, and timelines.
- Assess project scopes, analyze blueprints and costs to make informed decisions impacting pricing and project viability.
- Engage in site inspections, pre-bid meetings, and technical discussions to thoroughly evaluate project demands and special requirements.
- Prepare comprehensive bills of materials to support Account Executives in sourcing pricing for materials, labor, and services from vendors, subcontractors, and partners.
- Identify potential gaps in scope, project risks, and opportunities for cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Coordinate with installation teams to verify the feasibility and precision of estimates.
- Ensure awareness and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Keep up-to-date with advances in security technology, industry trends, and product pricing.
- Present well-prepared proposals to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Candidate Profile

- Collaborative with strong ownership of estimating processes and solutions.
Qualification and Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in estimating, project management, or system design specifically within electronic physical security systems such as access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection.
- Expertise in handling large-scale RFPs, greenfield projects, and programmatic client engagements.
- Detailed understanding of requirements across vertical markets including healthcare, data centers, government, education, and financial institutions.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction documents, technical drawings, and scopes of work.
- Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and project collaboration platforms.
- Knowledge about materials, labor costs, and coordination with subcontractors for physical security installations.
- Capability to recognize project risks, suggest value engineering solutions, and align with profitability objectives.
- Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills verbally and in writing for effective teamwork with customers, vendors, and internal departments.
- A proactive attitude committed to continuous growth and result-oriented performance.
- Additional Assets: Field experience, bilingual language skills, and ability to obtain government reliability and security clearances.
