Role Overview

We are seeking a Security Engineer specializing in Threat Intelligence to join our Detection and Response (D&R) team in Sydney. This role involves collaborating with international teams in the US and Switzerland, focusing on monitoring and counteracting advanced threat actors. This is not a conventional analyst role; it emphasizes research, innovation, and development to proactively safeguard our systems and users worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and create actionable intelligence on emerging adversary tactics and campaigns, including advanced persistent threats (APT) and cybercrime.
• Continuously monitor and model threat actor behaviors that could impact Snap Inc.
• Invent and develop new detection and response tools and automated solutions to improve threat hunting and incident mitigation.
• Utilize AI and automation to build scalable intelligence and defense frameworks.
• Design and implement advanced logging and alerting mechanisms that secure endpoints, networks, cloud environments, and internal infrastructure.
• Lead incident response operations, coordinating with multiple teams to investigate security incidents and reduce risk.
• Collaborate globally to refine Snap’s detection, intelligence, and response capabilities continuously.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Proven experience in areas such as threat intelligence, threat hunting, digital forensics, malware analysis, incident response, or host/network intrusion detection.
• Proficiency in programming languages including Python and/or Go.
• Deep understanding of operating system internals with expertise in at least two of macOS, Windows, or Linux, including file and disk structures, forensic procedures, security controls, system hardening, scripting, and binary investigation.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud infrastructure with hands-on experience in at least two of Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform, or Amazon Web Services, especially in deploying and investigating security events.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum of three years experience in incident response, detection engineering, or related cybersecurity disciplines.
