Role Overview

The Screwman will be responsible for operating and assisting in the operation of asphalt paver machines on road and infrastructure projects. This role primarily entails controlling and adjusting the screed system to ensure conformity with specified paving dimensions, levels, slopes, and alignments. The Screwman collaborates closely with the Paver Operator, Grade Checker, Surveyor, and Foreman to achieve precise and efficient asphalt laying aligned with project standards. Prior involvement with asphalt paver machinery and road construction environments is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and fine-tune the screed mechanism of asphalt paver machines during road paving tasks.
• Ensure paving width, thickness, levels, slopes, and alignment meet project specifications.
• Continuously monitor asphalt flow to secure a uniformly smooth paving surface.
• Coordinate effectively with Paver Operators, Grade Checkers, Surveyors, and Foremen.
• Make on-site screed adjustments based on changing field conditions and project needs.
• Oversee screed operation and paving effectiveness throughout the paving process.
• Support maintenance of correct asphalt temperature and ensure even material distribution for quality paving.
• Conduct routine cleaning and upkeep of the screed apparatus and associated equipment.
• Identify and report any mechanical or surface issues to supervisors promptly.
• Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental protocols and on-site safety regulations.

Qualifications and Skills

• Demonstrated experience working as a Screwman or Screed Operator on asphalt paving machines.
• Strong familiarity with asphalt paving techniques, screed adjustments, and measurement of levels, slopes, and thickness.
• Exposure to road and infrastructure construction projects.
• Capability to collaborate efficiently with operational and surveying teams on site.
• Sound knowledge of paving quality standards and surface finishing processes.
• Experience with road construction projects within the GCC or UAE regions is considered an asset.
