Overview
This permanent full-time position is based in Wellington or any of the main NZ Transport Agency offices across New Zealand. The role focuses on transforming complex project schedules into clear, actionable plans, enhancing confidence through meticulous planning. It supports major infrastructure projects by providing comprehensive scheduling expertise, robust forecasts, and transparent risk visibility.
Key Responsibilities
As the Scheduling Principal Specialist, you will offer authoritative leadership in scheduling best practices across projects and programmes within NZTA's Infrastructure Development & Delivery portfolio. This includes advising project teams and senior stakeholders, delivering assurance, and coaching to elevate scheduling quality. You will collaborate with project controls, risk, and delivery experts to pinpoint critical path risks, enhance forecasting accuracy, and empower decision-making by interpreting comprehensive schedule insights.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate is an experienced project controls or scheduling professional who appreciates how rigorous planning, forecasting, and critical path analysis underpin successful project delivery. While familiarity with Primavera software is advantageous, it is not mandatory.

- Proven extensive experience in project scheduling and project controls.
- Deep knowledge of critical path analysis and schedule risk management techniques.
- Ability to develop, review, and assure intricate infrastructure project schedules.
- Strong analytical skills with an emphasis on forecasting and risk assessment.
