Job description

Role Overview

As a SAP Software License Manager, you will lead the strategic governance and enhancement of SAP software license usage within extensive ERP and cloud systems. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with licensing agreements, assessing usage patterns and contractual rights, and offering expert advice to internal stakeholders on licensing approaches, audit processes, and cost-saving strategies. Collaborating closely with IT, Procurement, Finance departments, and external partners, you will work to minimize financial exposure while maximizing the return on SAP software investments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full responsibility for the SAP Effective License Position (ELP), encompassing license compliance monitoring, quality control, and reporting risks
  • Establish and enforce governance frameworks for SAP licensing across SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, RISE with SAP, and cloud platforms
  • Perform in-depth analysis, validation, and reconciliation of SAP license consumption metrics, including users, engine counts, full-use equivalents (FUE), and Digital Access measures
  • Drive initiatives to optimize SAP license costs and compliance, including licensing strategies aligned with transformation projects
  • Provide strategic consultations to stakeholders regarding SAP licensing policies, budgeting, forecasting, supplier negotiations, and related commercial decisions
  • Lead SAP license audit processes, manage communications with stakeholders, and collaborate with entities such as SAP, Procurement, Finance, IT, and user groups including DSAG

Candidate Profile

  • Possess a university degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Finance or a similar discipline
  • Have extensive professional experience in Software Asset Management with a particular emphasis on SAP license management
  • Demonstrate proven ability to manage SAP licensing in intricate landscapes involving SAP ECC, S/4HANA, RISE with SAP, and cloud services
  • Hold comprehensive knowledge of SAP licensing models, including Digital Access, indirect usage, user and engine licensing metrics, and contract evaluation
  • Exhibit strong analytical skills encompassing data analysis, license reconciliation, financial modeling, risk management, compliance, and process optimization
  • Possess excellent stakeholder management abilities, strategic advisory competence, negotiation support skills, and fluent communication in both German and English
