Role Overview

As a Sanitation Attendant reporting to the Director of Engineering, your meticulous care will ensure guests enjoy a memorable and pristine environment. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and managing waste within the resort grounds while upholding Fairmont’s high standards of luxury and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional, engaging, and courteous service at all times.
  • Consistently adhere to company policies, procedures, service standards, and operational protocols.
  • Maintain quality work aligned with brand standards as directed by supervisors.
  • Collect garbage, recyclables, and cardboard from bins and public areas.
  • Safely transport and dispose of waste at designated recycling and disposal sites following environmental regulations.
  • Comply with all health, safety, sanitation, and environmental policies including required documentation and inspections.
  • Operate standard vehicles such as pickup trucks, garbage trucks, forklifts, and skyreach lifts.
  • Provide backup support as a relief laborer performing all related duties.
  • Keep waste management and storage areas orderly and clean.
  • Use hand tools, chainsaws, hoists, rigging materials, and log splitters safely and effectively.
  • Follow hotel vehicle operation and safety policies.
  • Promote and embody the Fairmont brand promise and luxury in interactions.
  • Support an inclusive workplace where all individuals feel respected and valued.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous related experience is advantageous.
  • Minimum education – high school and/or technical school.
  • Physically fit and capable to meet job demands.
  • Skills in repairing and replacing brick pathways.
  • Commitment to safe working practices including confined space operations.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience operating equipment is a plus.
  • Experience in mechanical or maintenance roles is beneficial.
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license required.

Legal and Visa Requirements

Candidates must have legal authorization to work in Canada. The employer cannot sponsor or assist with work permits.
