Job description
About the Company
BuildPass is developing an AI-native operating system tailored for the construction sector, starting with compliance and safety in Australia and New Zealand, before expanding to a comprehensive platform covering processes from initial estimates to project handover. Competing with major players like Buildertrend and Procore, the company is preparing for a Series A funding round soon.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Sales Manager to strengthen our Melbourne team. This role suits someone with strong personal ambition and a collaborative mindset who can lead by example, actively participate in sales, and implement structured sales processes while coaching and enabling the team consistently.
Key Benefits
- Competitive base salary plus superannuation with an uncapped on-target earnings plan, details revealed upon application.
- Mostly self-funded business (~85% in Australia), demonstrating financial discipline and commitment.
- Opportunity to join before scaling up with an imminent Series A funding round.
- Ownership of the entire sales cycle, managing from SDR through to Account Executive levels.
- Direct communication channel with company co-founders.
- Engagement with more complex deals due to the company moving slightly up-market.
- Be part of a young, developing team in need of a dedicated coach rather than just a manager.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end sales operations managing a team of three Account Executives and five Sales Development Representatives.
- Provide hands-on coaching including call analysis, real-time feedback, and skill development for sales representatives.
- Participate in sales calls alongside the team, not just administrative oversight.
- Manage daily activities to minimize obstacles and facilitate smooth operations.
- Support the business transition from small and medium business focus toward lower-mid-market segments with more complex deals.
- Develop and maintain sales operating rhythms such as pipeline reviews, forecasting, and establishing sales standards to support rapid growth.
- Collaborate closely with the new Head of Revenue and co-founders who remain actively involved in the business.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Ambitious player-coach who is eager to engage directly in sales activities and team development.
- Experience in fast-paced SMB sales environments with short sales cycles and deal sizes under $15K.
- Decisive and able to make quick, confident decisions without delays.
- Motivated by nurturing and growing a young team, beyond individual sales achievements.
- Comfortable adapting to dynamic, fast-evolving business priorities.
- A genuine interest in construction industry trends and challenges, even if lacking direct industry experience.
- Experience managing both SDRs and AEs is advantageous but not mandatory; enthusiasm, coaching skills, and proactive attitude are paramount.
Additional Information
This Sales Manager role offers more than typical administrative or reporting responsibilities; it provides an empowered position to lead and shape the sales function amidst an established business nearing a major growth phase. The company's founders are directly involved and committed to this role's success with considerable investment backing.
