Job description
Company Overview
Pointer, operating under the Irongate Solutions brand, has developed a unique position in the Australian and New Zealand construction technology market by providing the only completely integrated turnstile and access control solutions. The company has been bootstrapped, founder-led, and enjoys strong client retention, with Tier 1 and Tier 2 builders such as Mirvac and Richard Crookes maintaining ongoing contracts without churn.
Role Summary
The Business Development Manager will join a growing sales team with a significant focus on building on an already warm client pipeline. The role offers a clear advancement path to Sales Manager as the company expands and includes an attractive base salary combined with an uncapped commission structure. The sales approach emphasizes trust, collaboration, and a supportive environment without internal competition among representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and expand an existing client portfolio within HubSpot, identifying new construction sites and projects proactively.
- Initiate and develop new business relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 construction companies by engaging site managers, safety managers, and project managers.
- Effectively convert inbound leads with quick deal turnaround, including some deals that close rapidly after quoting.
- Qualify and assess deal opportunities efficiently, with most engagement conversations lasting 15–20 minutes via phone or Teams.
- Conduct site visits approximately one day per week to foster trust with potential new clients.
- Maintain and progress a live sales pipeline with the goal of closing around 15 to 20 deals monthly.
- Handle deals ranging from approximately $30,000 to over $250,000 for larger projects and corporate clients.
Candidate Profile
- Organizational skills driven by personal discipline to keep CRM data accurate and up to date without external pressure.
- Ability to build quick rapport with tradespeople and site managers who prioritize efficient communication over elaborate presentations.
- Desire for career development beyond compensation, with a genuine opportunity to advance into a Sales Manager role.
- Experience in construction, hardware/software sales, or high-volume relationship sales sectors such as events or ticketing is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Comfort with a sales process that emphasizes a faster buying cycle rather than long-stakeholder enterprise deals.
- Focus on reliability, relationship-building, and pipeline management over a traditional enterprise sales background.
Unique Selling Points
- Competitive base salary with an uncapped commission model aligned with performance.
- Founder-led company that prioritizes sustainable growth without churn-and-burn hiring tactics.
- Immediate access to the company founder/CEO, fostering transparent communication and support.
- A low-competition product category with a market-leading, fully integrated technology solution.
- Warm client relationships reduce the challenge of cold-calling and market skepticism.
- Clear career growth path with solid security and performance-based rewards.
