About the Role
Albustan is seeking a dedicated Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join their team in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The successful candidate will play a key role in creating and maintaining a safe working environment, promoting a culture of safety, and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor occupational health and safety (HSE) policies and procedures across the facility.
- Conduct regular inspection rounds in production areas, warehouses, facilities, and offices to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
- Identify and assess occupational hazards and propose appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
- Follow up on corrective actions and ensure safety observations are closed within set deadlines.
- Ensure employees comply with using the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) relative to their work.
- Oversee the safety of machinery, equipment, and operational areas by ensuring approved safety procedures are implemented.
- Participate in the preparation and updating of risk assessments and safe work procedures.
- Investigate accidents, injuries, and near-miss incidents; determine root causes and recommend preventive solutions.
- Prepare and submit incident reports and safety observations to relevant management.
- Monitor emergency and evacuation plans, ensuring emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and safety equipment are operational and accessible.
- Organize and deliver training and awareness programs related to occupational health and safety for employees.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks and safety awareness meetings tailored to workplace hazards and risks.
- Ensure contractors and visitors comply with safety requirements within the premises.
- Oversee safety procedures during maintenance and other high-risk operations.
- Track safety requirements related to chemical handling, storage, and transportation, aligned with work nature.
- Support the development and implementation of safety improvement plans and programs aimed at reducing accidents and injuries.
- Monitor safety performance indicators (HSE KPIs) and prepare regular reports.
- Maintain and continuously update occupational health and safety records and reports.
- Collaborate with various departments to enhance safety awareness and foster a prevention culture.
- Ensure adherence to local occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Perform any additional related tasks as directed by management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of practical experience in occupational health and safety/HSE, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge and skills in hazard identification and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experienced in conducting inspection rounds, documenting safety observations, and following up corrective actions.
- Proficient in accident investigation and root cause analysis procedures.
- Good understanding of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Competent in report preparation and analysis of safety data and performance indicators.
- Excellent communication, training, and awareness-raising abilities.
- Capable of working on-site and engaging within an industrial work environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with Saudi occupational health and safety standards, laws, and regulations.
- Professional certifications such as IOSH, NEBOSH, or OSHA are advantageous.
- English language proficiency is appreciated.
- Applicant nationality must be Saudi.
