Role Overview
The Safety Officer position, based full-time on-site in Guwahati, entails driving and upholding a safe working environment aligned with Sodexo’s health, safety, and environmental policies. Key duties involve carrying out systematic safety inspections and audits to identify risks and recommend preventive and corrective measures aimed at reducing occupational hazards and incidents. The role requires maintaining accurate safety records, supporting comprehensive risk assessments, and aiding the enforcement of company-wide safety policies, procedures, and emergency response protocols.
Core Responsibilities
- Conduct routine safety audits and inspections to identify workplace hazards.
- Develop and recommend corrective actions to mitigate incidents and health risks.
- Maintain and update all safety-related documentation and reports.
- Support risk assessment activities and the deployment of safety policies and emergency response plans.
- Organize and execute safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with legal safety standards and client-specific safety requirements.
- Track and report safety performance indicators to management.
- Collaborate with operational teams for incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Promote continuous improvement toward a robust safety culture on-site.
Qualifications and Skills
- Solid understanding of occupational health and safety legislation, risk evaluation techniques, and incident investigation methods.
- Expertise in conducting safety audits, hazard identification, and formulating corrective action plans.
- Proficient in delivering safety training, communicating safety protocols, and engaging employees on safety topics.
- Competent in interpreting and enforcing company and client safety policies and site-specific standards.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalents are advantageous.
- Educational background including diplomas or degrees in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related disciplines is preferred.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours in accordance with operational demands.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to nurturing a proactive and safety-focused work environment.
