Overview
Seeking an experienced Safety Director to lead the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) function on a large-scale construction project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role entails overseeing compliance with company policies, local laws, and international HSE standards through all phases of the project.
Key Duties
- Design and execute comprehensive HSE strategies, plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the project.
- Provide leadership and direction to dedicated HSE teams operating across various project segments.
- Guarantee adherence to Saudi regulatory requirements, client expectations, and global HSE benchmarks.
- Track and assess HSE indicators, conduct inspections, audits, and enforce corrective measures where needed.
- Oversee risk evaluation, hazard identification, incident prevention efforts, and emergency response protocols.
- Lead in-depth investigations of major incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective solutions.
- Supervise contractors and subcontractors to ensure their conformity with approved HSE standards.
- Perform routine site inspections, comprehensive audits, and management evaluations.
- Foster a proactive safety culture among all personnel engaged in the project.
- Collaborate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Construction, and Client or Consultant teams concerning all HSE matters.
- Generate and deliver detailed HSE performance reports for senior leaders and project executives.
- Ensure strict environmental management and compliance with all environmental obligations relevant to the project.
- Champion safety education through trainings, awareness initiatives, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
Qualifications and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in HSE, particularly on significant construction projects.
- Extensive exposure to mega projects or large-scale commercial building construction.
- Preferred experience with Tier 1 international or main contractors.
- Proven background in complex developments such as high-rise buildings, hospitality, mixed-use, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- Prior roles as HSE Director, Manager, or Head of HSE are essential.
- Deep understanding of international HSE regulations and construction safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Experience within GCC or Saudi Arabian construction environments is advantageous.
- Professional certifications like NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalents are preferred.
