Position Summary

As Wavestore expands its development team in Ottawa, the Rust Developer role offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly beyond narrow job descriptions. The role involves designing and developing scalable, cloud-based services within a close-knit team, where individual input and ownership are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and implement robust cloud-native solutions utilizing Rust programming language.
• Work collaboratively within a focused development team to integrate diverse systems and enhance scalability.
• Engage actively in code peer reviews offering insightful feedback.
• Design, develop, and execute rigorous tests ensuring software reliability and optimal performance.
• Participate in shaping the product roadmap and propose continuous improvements in development workflows and code quality.

Qualifications and Skills

• Between three to five years of professional software development experience, inclusive of hands-on production work with Rust and its ecosystem.
• Proficient with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong command of Git version control including branching strategies, merging, and pull request management.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks and software quality methodologies.
• Exceptional analytical thinking, teamwork, and communication capabilities.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge or experience with video streaming technologies, specifically GStreamer and WebRTC.
• Hands-on experience with cloud APIs and infrastructure management tools.
• Exposure to Agile or Scrum development frameworks.
