Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified Risk Officer to join our Group Pricing and Risk Assessment Team in Kingston. The successful candidate will support the Assistant Manager and AVP to ensure the smooth operation of the department catering to both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the Employee Benefits Marketing Department under guidance of senior managers.
  • Prepare quotations for new business involving Group Health, Group Life, Critical Illness, and Personal Accident policies for both small and large groups.
  • Generate renewal pricing quotations for Group Health, Group Life, Critical Illness, and Personal Accident products.
  • Complete necessary monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
  • Conduct new business quotes specifically for Costa Rica.
  • Assist with medical underwriting for applications from both employer-sponsored and non-employer groups.
  • Enter rates into the Group Insurance Administration System (GIAS).
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned related to risk assessment and pricing.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics from an accredited university.
  • Experience of at least one year in insurance or insurance pricing is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in commonly used computer software including word processing and spreadsheet tools.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude coupled with research, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with operations, practices, and principles specific to life insurance companies and employee benefits products.
  • Effective organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities with a keen eye for detail.
