About the Role
We are partnering with our client to recruit a Risk & Compliance Manager, a key position offering the chance to oversee risk management, regulatory compliance, and data protection within a growing organisation. Placed in Dublin South, this hybrid role requires on-site presence two days weekly. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with senior leaders to enhance governance structures, ensure regulatory adherence, and foster a company-wide risk-aware culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and executing the annual Compliance Plan, Data Protection Plan, and Risk Management Framework, including activities such as testing, reporting, and tracking remediation measures.
- Help develop, maintain, and implement the annual Compliance Monitoring Programme (CMP).
- Manage and update the compliance universe to reflect relevant legal and regulatory obligations, staying abreast of new regulatory developments and ensuring their implementation.
- Keep the firm's risk register, risk appetite metrics, and key risk indicators current; facilitate risk workshops with business unit leaders.
- Work collaboratively across departments to collect vital data and metrics regarding Governance, Compliance, Operational Risk (GCOR).
- Serve as a principal contact for data protection matters by supporting the Data Protection Officer/Chief Risk & Compliance Officer in tasks like data protection impact assessments, records of processing activities, breach response, and handling subject access requests in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Create, review, and update policies, procedures, and standards related to compliance, risk, and data protection, while also aiding awareness and training initiatives.
- Investigate conduct risk events, error trends, breaches, and incidents, ensuring appropriate escalation and supporting root cause and remediation efforts.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for the Risk and Compliance Committee, Audit Committee, and company Board.
- Compile regulatory returns and documentation for the Central Bank of Ireland, including engagements and ad hoc queries.
- Support outsourced Internal Audit processes.
- Assist in overseeing outsourcing practices, conducting third-party due diligence, and engaging in business continuity and operational resilience activities relevant to risk and compliance.
- Promote a strong risk culture by helping first-line business units understand and adhere to risk and compliance standards.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- At least 4 to 5 years of experience in risk, compliance, and data protection roles within financial services, preferably in insurance, insurance intermediation, or similarly regulated sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of Central Bank of Ireland regulations, including the Consumer Protection Code, Insurance Distribution Regulations, and the Fitness and Probity regime.
- Practical expertise in GDPR and the 2018 Data Protection Act, including skills in DPIA execution, breach management, and maintaining processing records.
- Relevant professional qualifications in law, finance, business, or compliance are advantageous.
- Strong analytical capabilities along with excellent report-writing and communication skills to effectively engage with senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Self-motivated with the ability to thrive in a small second-line assurance function and manage multiple regulatory deadlines.
