Overview
Our client is an established international commodities group with extensive involvement in physical trading and risk management solutions globally. Utilizing its broad market expertise and worldwide network, the company collaborates with a diverse set of counterparties to manage commodity price exposures and address increasingly complex and volatile market conditions.
Role Summary
As part of the growth of its trading and risk management functions, the organization seeks a seasoned Risk Advisor to enhance its risk management capabilities. This individual contributor role involves significant collaboration with commercial, trading, and risk teams across multiple global locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the assessment, monitoring, and management of market and counterparty credit risks stemming from commodity trading and structured transactions.
- Take charge of counterparty risk evaluations, deliver credit limit recommendations, monitor exposures, manage margin-related risk, and maintain ongoing risk reporting.
- Analyze how fluctuations in commodity markets and mark-to-market valuations impact counterparty exposures during the lifecycle of transactions.
- Partner with trading, commercial, finance, operations, and risk departments to conduct portfolio stress testing and scenario analyses.
- Monitor risk concentrations and contribute to the advancement of risk controls and governance frameworks.
- Engage with counterparties regarding credit and risk-related issues as needed, ensuring robust risk communication.
Candidate Profile
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related fields.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience specializing in commodity trading risk, with a preference for strong market risk expertise.
- Professional credentials such as FRM or CFA are advantageous.
- Ability to integrate technical risk skills with sound commercial insight and a solid understanding of both physical and financial commodity markets.
