Job description

About the Role

The exchange team at Crypto.com is responsible for developing and maintaining an advanced trading platform, operating globally across APAC, EMEA, and North America. The goal is to deliver a secure and efficient trading experience for clients. We are seeking a quantitative Risk Manager to join our global exchange team, primarily managing the design, calibration, and validation of margin, pricing, and liquidation frameworks for our FCM and clearing businesses. In addition, the role involves daily risk monitoring, escalation, and reporting tasks. You will contribute to building a fast-growing trading platform that innovatively bridges traditional finance and digital markets with multi-asset products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee margin methodologies including SPAN, VaR, and portfolio-margining approaches, ensuring alignment and benchmarking with clearing houses and exchanges.
  • Create, deploy, and validate derivatives pricing models for various asset classes such as equities, commodities, futures, perpetuals, and options.
  • Conduct backtesting of margin coverage and document model assumptions, performance, and limitations comprehensively for regulatory and audit compliance.
  • Develop and maintain automated data pipelines and reporting structures supporting risk models using SQL, Python, and relational databases.
  • Monitor and analyze real-time and historical portfolio risk factors including exposure, leverage, margin usage, concentration, and liquidation.
  • Design efficient automated liquidation algorithms that minimize market risk and impact, particularly during periods of high volatility.
  • Perform scenario analyses and stress tests under diverse market conditions.
  • Provide risk assessments during product onboarding, listing review, and help set risk parameters such as haircuts, margin levels, liquidation thresholds, index pricing, funding rates, and position limits.
  • Analyze multi-asset derivative market microstructure, continuously reviewing and recalibrating risk models in response to market changes.
  • Support the creation and upkeep of internal risk dashboards and analytical tools.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in quantitative research, risk management, trading, or a closely related discipline, including involvement in daily risk operations; experience with regulatory interactions is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Master's or PhD degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, physics, statistics, engineering, computer science, financial engineering, or quantitative finance.
  • Proficiency in Python programming and expertise in SQL or noSQL database management and data modeling.
  • Strong comprehension of derivatives pricing theories covering both traditional and digital asset classes.
  • Extensive knowledge of order book dynamics (levels 1-3 data) and portfolio margining techniques, including offsetting between spot and futures.
  • In-depth familiarity with equities, commodity products, macro asset classes, and developments related to futures, perpetuals, or derivatives.
  • Direct hands-on or professional trading experience is highly desirable, along with a solid grasp of margin and liquidation processes.
  • Experience at financial institutions such as brokers, exchanges, or clearinghouses is beneficial, including an understanding of broker and CCP operations.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and a commitment to ongoing improvement.
