Job description

Overview

The Rig Superintendent role entails senior leadership within the Operations division, bearing ultimate accountability for the assigned rigs' effectiveness and profitability. This position emphasizes health, safety, and environmental integrity, asset maintenance, operational management, workforce oversight including subcontractors, and ensuring asset protection. The incumbent will cultivate a safety-first culture and foster collaboration, maintaining strong client and internal relations to ensure efficient and economical project delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct overall rig supervision and operational activities.
  • Manage daily drilling and well completion tasks ensuring optimal efficiency and technical outcomes.
  • Oversee rig performance management, operations integrity, and profitability.
  • Implement quality assurance protocols, ensure strict compliance with HSE standards, and spearhead safety programs.
  • Lead personnel including multiple drilling teams and subcontractors, driving motivation, training, and development.
  • Coordinate logistics, including rig supply chains and external support to maintain seamless operations.
  • Serve as the main onsite liaison for clients, nurturing strong relationships and fulfilling stakeholder requirements.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing multiple drilling crews and complex wellbore operations.
  • Proven track record in enhancing drilling performance, minimizing operational expenditures, and reliably achieving project deadlines.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HSE regulations with a clear commitment to safety-focused leadership.
  • Strong capability in fostering positive relations with clients and internal teams.
  • Prior oilfield experience is essential.

Educational Background and Certifications

  • Minimum education: High School Diploma or equivalent; graduation in any discipline accepted.
  • Preferred qualifications include a technical degree or diploma in Drilling Technology or an engineering-related field.
  • Must hold a valid IWCF or IADC Well Control Supervisor Level certificate.
  • Possession of additional recognized drilling and safety certifications is advantageous.
