Job description
Role Overview
The Retail Delivery Engineer is tasked with overseeing tenant fit-out projects, minor construction, and retail delivery operations at properties managed by URED. This position involves ensuring these activities comply with safety standards, approved design plans, schedules, and quality criteria, supporting the Manager – Retail Delivery to achieve project completion to opening standards.
Key Duties
- Supervise daily onsite work for tenant modifications, refurbishments, and retail delivery assignments.
- Conduct inspections at critical stages to verify adherence to approved drawings, specifications, and quality benchmarks.
- Spot and record defects, safety violations, or deviations; issue official non-compliance notifications when necessary.
- Enforce operational rules such as fit-out hours, noise limits, and waste handling procedures.
- Manage access control by validating contractor and tenant permits, insurances, and work plans before permitting site entry.
- Keep detailed site logs documenting contractor attendance, completed tasks, and encountered issues.
- Coordinate utility hookups including electricity, water, and drainage collaborations with the engineering team.
- Ensure various safety measures are in place including protective equipment use, signage display, area segregation, and fire safety.
- Track individual tenant fit-out schedules and update the Manager – Retail Delivery on progress.
- Highlight potential delays, obstacles, or risks affecting project timelines and propose mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed weekly progress reports with photographic records for leadership evaluation.
- Act as the main onsite contact point for tenants and contractors during fit-out processes.
- Address daily contractor inquiries, site instructions, and coordination challenges.
- Organize pre-start meetings to explain site protocols and access rules to tenant contractors.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or bachelor's qualification in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Preferred certification in NEBOSH or IOSH safety standards.
- Between 4 and 6 years of experience overseeing fit-out or construction projects, preferably within retail or commercial properties.
- Prior work experience in GCC countries or specifically Saudi Arabia is advantageous.
