Job description

Overview

As the Restaurant General Manager, you will play a key role in maximizing the restaurant's financial success and attracting both hotel guests and local patrons by understanding market dynamics and collaborating closely with culinary leadership. You will oversee daily operations, contribute to menu planning, uphold sanitation and service standards, and assist staff during busy periods to enhance both guest and employee satisfaction. This role also involves identifying training needs and developing strategies to meet operational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze restaurant demand and financial opportunities by studying market trends and local competition.
  • Partner with community figures to uncover business prospects and engage in local networking events.
  • Manage purchasing and inventory through price negotiations, contract management, supplier evaluations, and usage monitoring.
  • Apply revenue management techniques to optimize business levels and revenue generation.
  • Collaborate with hotel leadership and marketing teams to develop and implement restaurant marketing strategies.
  • Support public relations initiatives, oversee social media presence, and manage communications for restaurant events.
  • Supervise restaurant staff, maintain high service and sanitation standards, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies.
  • Conduct daily quality tastings to educate staff and promote sales.
  • Maintain the restaurant atmosphere appropriate to the concept and time of day.
  • Assist front-line employees during peak hours to maintain smooth operations.
  • Lead financial management including purchases and invoice payments.
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences, resolve complaints, and gather feedback to continuously improve service quality.
  • Participate actively in hiring, training, coaching, and performance management to develop and retain talent.
  • Encourage a positive team environment built on trust, respect, and effective communication.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and maintain professional knowledge through workshops, publications, and networking.

Qualifications

  • Either a high school diploma or GED with at least 4 years of relevant food and beverage or culinary experience;
  • Or a 2-year degree in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in food and beverage or culinary sectors.
