Job description
Job Summary
This role focuses on leading operational activities independently with minor supervision towards long-term goals. The incumbent will act as an internal consultant offering expert advice on complex Customs matters, managing the legal support ticketing system, and ensuring its effectiveness.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Design and improve legal support ticketing systems and knowledge management, offering practical recommendations to accelerate resolution of Customs-related queries.
- Conduct in-depth studies on Customs practices to enhance existing policies and procedures within the Authority.
- Stay updated on the national and global Customs ecosystem including key stakeholders, regulatory frameworks, procedures, and taxpayer journey insights.
- Handle internal and external inquiries related to Customs laws ensuring timely, compliant responses and escalate challenging cases as necessary.
- Regularly refresh Customs FAQ databases to enhance user experience by providing quick, reliable information.
- Assess prevalent queries to develop solutions that raise efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Gather internal feedback regarding legal support operation effectiveness and propose improvements to overcome identified challenges.
- Track and report on legal support performance metrics, addressing any delays or issues promptly.
- Compile comprehensive performance reports highlighting challenges and improvement opportunities.
- Engage with regulatory bodies and government entities through meetings and workshops to share best Customs practices.
- Adhere strictly to organizational policies, processes, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistent and controlled execution of duties.
- Resolve escalated problems and provide guidance to junior team members, ensuring optimal workflow and task execution.
- Escalate complex issues appropriately to guarantee proper case closure.
- Conduct training sessions for junior staff to facilitate knowledge transfer.
- Provide leadership by assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring subordinates’ work to ensure compliance with policies.
- Offer ongoing support to junior personnel to enable efficient task performance.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies or an equivalent discipline is mandatory.
- A Master’s degree in Legal Studies or comparable field is preferred.
Experience & Competencies
- At least 5 years of pertinent experience in relevant fields.
- Advanced knowledge of legislation, regulations, legal writing, policy drafting, and tax & customs treaties.
- Proficiency in negotiation, research, stakeholder management, professionalism, result orientation, and customer focus.
- Developing skills in collaboration, communication, and innovation enabling change.
