Job description

About the Practice

Warrington Riverside Vets4Pets is a dedicated small animal clinic renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and commitment to staff development. This RCVS accredited and recognized teaching practice for Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) and Veterinary Care Assistants (VCAs) holds silver rabbit and cat-friendly accreditations, primarily led by the RVN team. The practice is actively pursuing fear-free accreditation to enhance animal welfare.

Our team includes five full-time veterinarians, eight RVNs, three VCAs, six Client Care Assistants (CCAs), and one administrator, all coordinated by partners Alex and Sam, who have been joint venture partners for over a decade.

Facilities and Expertise

The recently refurbished clinic offers a dedicated space for colleagues featuring mindfulness and recreational areas. The practice is well-equipped with advanced technology such as digital and dental x-rays, ultrasound, therapeutic laser, in-house laboratory, multi-parameter monitors, automatic blood pressure machines, and bi-polar diathermy, alongside comprehensive surgical instruments.

Key clinical expertise includes partner Alex, an Official Veterinarian with a surgical focus, a veterinary behaviorist nurse providing in-house behavioral referrals, and a certified surgical vet, Ellie, enabling acceptance of surgery referrals.

Role Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily nurse clinics covering laser therapy, blood sampling, developmental checks for puppies and kittens, parasite control, and administration of second vaccinations.
  • Manage surgical caseloads through tasks such as radiography (including dental), dental scaling and polishing, anesthetic monitoring, medical case management, and performing various Schedule 3 procedures.

Working Hours and Conditions

This full-time position requires 30 to 40 hours weekly within the practice's operating hours (8:30 am to 7:00 pm), including one weekend shift every four weeks. There are no out-of-hours or overnight inpatient checks involved.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary ranging from £29,000 to £31,000 pro-rata, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Generous continuing professional development (CPD), including funding for certifications as applicable.
  • Paid memberships to professional bodies (RCVS, BVNA, VDS).
  • Contributory pension schemes.
  • Social events focused on employee wellbeing.
  • Exclusive discounts on company and high street outlets.
  • Additional benefits including a 20% discount at affiliated stores such as The Vet Group, Pets at Home, and The Groom Room.
  • Career progression opportunities within the organization.

We value diversity and inclusion, encouraging applications from all backgrounds. We strive to remove barriers and foster an environment where all colleagues can express their true selves, helping us create a positive impact on pets, people, and the planet.
