Red Team Operator Cyber Security

As a Red Team Operator, you will engage in authorized adversary simulation, red team, and assumed breach exercises for diverse clients. Your responsibilities include collaborating with clients to define objectives and threat scenarios, then designing and implementing realistic operations adhering to established rules of engagement.

Job Responsibilities

The position blends practical offensive security with research, problem-solving, and operational expertise. You will be responsible for building and managing red team infrastructures, creating custom tools, investigating emerging tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and adapting strategies when typical methods are ineffective. Your scope will span environments such as Windows, Linux, networking, cloud, and enterprise identity systems, with significant emphasis on operational security (OPSEC), stealth, detection avoidance, and carefully controlled execution.

You will utilize a wide array of standard industry tools, open-source software, commercial products, and internal platforms for activities like reconnaissance, web application testing, initial access, command and control, Active Directory, cloud, and identity testing. When necessary, you will enhance existing tools or develop simple scripts to suit specific engagement requirements. Comprehensive training will be provided for the company's proprietary platform.

Additionally, you will maintain detailed documentation of operations and timelines, contribute to client-facing deliverables, and assist in debriefing sessions. Collaboration with engagement leads, technical teams, and client representatives is essential, alongside mentoring less experienced colleagues to foster their growth.

Work Location

This is primarily a remote role with the expectation of being able to commute to London approximately every two to three weeks for collaboration purposes.

Candidate Profile

• Substantial experience in a similar red team or offensive security role with current knowledge of adversary tools and techniques relevant to red team operations.
• Highly developed problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of low-level technical concepts including operating systems, networking, authentication protocols, endpoint security controls, identity platforms, and the OSI model.
• Ability to read and analyze code to uncover security vulnerabilities and develop scripts or tools supporting red team goals.
• Awareness that red team activities demand controlled, realistic, and professional execution considering OPSEC, detection risks, logging, payload exposure, infrastructure management, attack path decisions, and the broader consequences of actions during exercises.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to share knowledge and provide mentorship.
• A relevant technical degree from a prestigious university (such as a Russel Group or Oxbridge institution).
