Red Team Engineer

Role Overview

Join the Global Cyber Security group's Red Team as a key technical contributor, performing adversary-emulation, threat-informed security testing, and ethical offensive security operations under firm standards and regulatory guidelines. This role involves conducting thorough assessments of enterprise systems and infrastructure to evaluate security postures and response effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct authorized adversary simulation exercises to test security defenses and organizational resilience.
• Carry out specialized security evaluations of applications, infrastructure, cloud platforms, and enterprise technologies.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, technology, and risk teams to design realistic threat-based testing scenarios.
• Assess detection and response effectiveness and facilitate improvements through purple team engagements.
• Operate strictly within approved scopes, authorization limits, and safe testing frameworks.
• Create or modify tools and methods to support realistic testing in a secure, compliant manner.
• Prepare precise and audit-compliant reports, helping drive risk mitigation and defense enhancement.

Desired Skills and Qualities

• Expertise in offensive security techniques across infrastructure, application, and cloud environments.
• In-depth knowledge of attacker tactics and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK to guide realistic testing.
• Familiarity with current security tools and red team methodologies.
• Proficiency in scripting for tool creation and adaptation.
• Comprehensive knowledge of network systems, operating systems, identity management, cloud services, and security technologies.
• Strong analytical skills to identify problems, assess risks, and recommend practical, evidence-based solutions.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization abilities under pressure.
• Capacity to work independently while collaborating effectively with varied stakeholders.
• Commitment to staying current on emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and offensive trends.
• Attention to detail and a track record of delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable practical security experience.
• Two to four years of experience in penetration testing or red team operations.
• Broad technical background with networks, operating systems, cloud environments, and security controls.
• Knowledge of threat-informed testing approaches and attack frameworks.
• Experience working with defensive teams to verify detection methods.
• Skill in scripting or automation using common programming languages.
• Strong written and verbal communication suited for diverse technical audiences.
