Job description
Position Overview
This role involves managing the receipt, unloading, and processing of deliveries, ensuring all incoming freight is accounted for based on invoices and receiving reports. Responsibilities include staging merchandise by department, correctly marking and placing items within the facility, and delivering merchandise to the relevant areas.
Key Duties
- Receive and verify inventory, completing accurate inventory reports and logs.
- Reconcile shipping invoices with receiving reports to ensure quantity accuracy.
- Handle receiving, storing, shipping, and delivery of both departmental packages and mail.
- Secure the receiving area and its contents, maintaining safekeeping of packages.
- Comply with all national, state, and local regulations concerning hazardous materials shipping.
- Ensure outgoing mail and packages are shipped appropriately.
- Verify package quantity and condition prior to delivering to guests and communicate receipt to them.
- Maintain detailed tracking systems for all shipping and receiving activities, including obtaining guest signatures on package receipts.
- Report any loss or damage to packages to management promptly.
- Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work situations to supervisors and complete required safety training.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, maintaining a professional uniform and personal appearance, safeguarding proprietary information, and protecting company property.
- Respond to guests' needs courteously and promptly, using professional communication and telephone etiquette.
- Build and sustain positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Visually review and verify information in multiple formats and inspect tools, equipment, or machines for defects.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling items up to 50 pounds, and operate in confined or elevated spaces, including stairs and ramps.
- Use fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to handle objects of varying sizes.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum education: High school diploma or GCE O'Levels.
- No prior related work or supervisory experience required.
- No licenses or certifications necessary.
