Role Overview

The Quantity Surveyor will serve full-time at the Dar es-Salaam site, aiding project teams in financial planning and control during all project phases. Key daily functions involve compiling and assessing Bills of Quantities (BOQs), estimating costs, and tracking expenses relative to budgets. Responsibilities also include monitoring cost fluctuations, issuing interim and final payment certificates, and assisting in contract administration. The role requires close collaboration with engineers, project managers, and suppliers to ensure precise measurements, thorough documentation, and punctual cost reporting. Additional duties include tender preparation, contractor claim evaluations, and providing guidance on cost-saving measures and risk mitigation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Expertise in Cost Control and Cost Management techniques.
  • Ability to conduct Cost Planning and generate detailed Cost Reports for budgeting and financial monitoring.
  • Experience with BOQ preparation, review, and management.
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledgeable about construction contracts, tendering processes, and standard measurement protocols.
  • Skilled at interpreting architectural and engineering drawings to capture accurate measurements.
  • Proficient in software such as Microsoft Excel and specialized quantity surveying or cost estimation applications.
  • Possess strong analytical thinking, numeracy, problem-solving abilities, with emphasis on detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communicator with teamwork capabilities, comfortable working onsite and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
  • Previous experience in construction or infrastructure projects in a similar capacity is favorable.
