Job description
Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor (QS) will play a pivotal role in managing project costs and overseeing financial controls to ensure projects are delivered within budget. This position involves comprehensive responsibilities ranging from cost estimation and contract management to financial reporting and collaboration with project stakeholders.
Primary Duties
- Develop cost estimates through various project stages including concept, design, tender, and construction phases.
- Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets aligned with project objectives and conduct feasibility studies to evaluate viability.
- Prepare bills of quantities and pricing documentation; contribute to tender evaluations and support procurement negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure contract compliance by managing variations, claims, reviewing contractor payment applications, and assessing extension of time requests.
- Monitor and report on project costs, preparing monthly financial reports and cash flow forecasts, while identifying cost-saving possibilities.
- Help assess financial and contract-related risks, support change controls, and maintain accurate records of variations.
- Collaborate closely with senior surveyors, project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to provide precise cost and contractual guidance.
- Support preparation and resolution of final accounts and reconcile project expenditures against initial estimates.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
- A minimum of eight years experience in Quantity Surveying roles, including at least three years within airport projects is required.
- Prior involvement in consulting, construction, or engineering environments is highly beneficial.
- Professional certifications such as MRICS or MCIPS are advantageous.
