About Vision Built

Role Overview
The Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with commercial and construction teams to facilitate successful project outcomes, foster strong stakeholder relationships, optimise commercial benefits, and effectively manage risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare tender documentation, analyse and select subcontractors, and negotiate and finalise subcontract agreements.
- Supervise financial and commercial elements pertaining to subcontractors through to final account settlement.
- Maintain accurate site records and oversee document control processes.
- Conduct site measurements and assist with forecasting, target setting, and contract value reconciliations.
- Prepare valuations and manage variations, ensuring detailed records and agreeing on changes as work progresses.
- Update projected final accounts promptly.
- Coordinate with site management to influence and challenge commercial matters and implement commercial strategies.
- Protect the company's commercial and contractual rights and participate in contract value reviews while maintaining independent judgment.
- Identify and evaluate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Develop knowledge of insurance policies and warranties.
- Engage in cash management activities to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Support tender processes as necessary.
- Oversee and mentor Assistant and Trainee Quantity Surveyors, reviewing their work.
- Utilize clear oral and written communication skills and effectively employ technological tools.
- Be fully proficient with the Standard Method of Measurement.
- Demonstrate strong commercial understanding, time management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Degree-level education and progress towards relevant professional accreditation.
- Understanding of JCT contracts.
- Proficient letter and report writing abilities.
- Strong negotiation capabilities.
- Experience with Contract Value Reviews (CVRs).
- Completion of a 2-day safety appreciation course encompassing contract and commercial awareness.
- Membership or eligibility for membership with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Desirable Experience and Skills
- Exposure to larger Design and Build contracts.
- Knowledge of claims and dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Familiarity with contract law principles.
- Participation in contracts valued above £15 million, though not in a responsible capacity.
- Experience controlling traditional contracts.
- Ability to supervise Assistant Quantity Surveyors and approve Standard Method of Measurement or measurement-related matters.
