About the Role
At Jacobs, we are dedicated to progressing today for a better tomorrow by addressing critical global challenges across diverse sectors including urban development, environmental sustainability, operational advancement, scientific research, and advanced manufacturing. We are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team at NEOM to contribute commercial and contractual expertise during the close out phase of a key water infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify, measure, and review completed works for interim and final valuations ensuring accuracy.
- Evaluate contractor payment claims and prepare recommendations in line with contractual terms.
- Maintain detailed records covering quantities, costs, variations, and all commercial correspondence.
- Assist in negotiating and finalizing accounts with contractors and subcontractors.
- Analyze and manage variations, compensation events, and changes in project scope.
- Support the assessment and resolution of claims, commercial disputes, and contractual challenges.
- Track project expenditures, commitments, and costs compared to the approved budget.
- Prepare monthly commercial reports, forecasts, and cost reconciliations to aid project tracking.
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, project controls, and client teams to facilitate timely commercial closeout.
- Contribute to handover activities by ensuring completion of contractual and commercial obligations.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Cost Management within sectors such as infrastructure, utilities, civil engineering, or construction projects.
- Solid expertise in measurement techniques, valuation methodologies, payment certification, variations handling, final account preparation, claims assessment, cost reporting, and contract administration.
- A thorough familiarity with standard construction contract formats, commercial documentation, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and change control processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and commercial management or quantity surveying software. Familiarity with project management and document control systems is beneficial.
- Experience in cost control, budget tracking, forecasting, risk evaluation, stakeholder management, and support of commercial closeout phases.
- Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and problem-solving capability, especially in site-based project environments.
- A bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is essential.
- Prior experience working on water, utilities, or major infrastructure projects in the Middle East is a preferred advantage.
