Quantity Surveyor

Job Overview

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing and controlling project costs, preparing estimates, and monitoring budgets to ensure financial efficiency throughout construction projects. This role includes reviewing quantities, contracts, variations, payment applications, and ensuring their accuracy and alignment with agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain budgeting, cost control, estimating, and reporting systems related to infrastructure projects for the Design Consultant.
• Handle both pre-contract and post-contract activities, including tender processes and cost control measures.
• Assess construction project activities, focusing on variations and submissions for management approval.
• Ensure cost estimation and control requirements related to contract variations are integrated into tender specification documents.
• Review cost estimates from Consultants and Contractors to confirm compliance with agreements, contract documents, and company standards.
• Analyze Bills of Quantities from Design Consultants and Contractors for accuracy against drawings and specifications.
• Verify, update, and obtain management approval for project control budgets as needed.
• Prepare and evaluate forecasts concerning final project costs, including variations and commitments.
• Update cost data to evaluate estimates submitted by Design Consultants adequately.
• Examine final cost reports, asset registers, and project closeout documentation to ensure contract compliance.
• Review and manage contract-related documentation such as Change Requests, Contract Trend Notices, Variation Orders, and Claims.
• Maintain a foundational knowledge of contract principles and relevant documentation.
• Review and prepare various payment types accurately.
• Adhere to Hill International’s Quality, Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health policies and procedures throughout employment.
• Perform other assigned duties as designated by supervisors or line managers.

Candidate Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field is required.
• At least ten years of proven experience in a similar role.
• Familiarity with CAD/Civil 3D software quantity extraction techniques.
• Certification as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor is preferred.
• Understanding of cost management and FIDIC contract conditions.
• Strong interpersonal skills enabling effective teamwork and relationship building with clients and agents.
• Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
