Job description
Job Overview
The role involves detailed quantity calculation and verification for construction works based on Work Order pay items and IFC drawings. The candidate will be responsible for assessing, comparing, and validating quantities derived from drawings and contractor bills in coordination with the Engineer-in-Charge.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate quantities for various construction works according to Work Order pay items and IFC drawings.
- Compare derived quantities with certified bills validated by the Engineer-in-Charge (EIC).
- Check and verify monthly contractor bills in alignment with the billing cycle.
- Interpret technical drawings, identify work items, perform quantity take-offs, and verify bar bending schedules.
- Record site measurements for concealed and varied work items to assist computerized billing, bill checking, and quantity validation.
- Ensure billed quantities conform to standard measurement methods.
- Verify Joint Measurement Records (JMRs) using standardized formats with detailed quantity backup.
- Validate bar bending schedules and quantity calculations.
- Study contract documents including work orders, conditions, payment terms, DOR, and closure clauses.
- Perform detailed quantity verification in bills against drawings, JMRs, sketches, and abstract sheets.
- Conduct frequent site visits for physical verification of quantities.
- Prepare bar bending schedules.
- Authenticate verified documentation in Running Account (RA) and final bills.
- Initiate requests in SAP for authorizations related to additional plants, project codes, and fund centers in RELSAP.
- Track SIMS requests ensuring approvals through proper channels.
- Evaluate contractor performance based on billing processing parameters.
Educational Qualifications
- Preferred: Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying (Civil).
Experience Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering with 1 to 7 years of relevant experience.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering with 7 to 14 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience in quantity surveying functions.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering concepts and proficiency in reading technical drawings.
- Expertise in estimation, costing, and quantity measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with automation tools and software relevant to quantity surveying.
- Ability to adopt efficient methodologies for measurements.
- Understanding of general and special contract conditions, including GCC, SCC, and schedule of rates (SOR).
- Awareness of quality assurance and safety procedures within construction projects.
